Self-Esteem Therapy in Houston

For individuals struggling with self-doubt, low confidence, or a fragile sense of self-worth.

Many people think of self-esteem as simply “feeling confident”—but it’s often more nuanced than that. In my work, I’ve found that self-esteem difficulties tend to show up in two distinct ways:

Low self-esteem — You struggle to recognize your own worth, or feel that your perceived flaws outweigh anything positive about yourself.
Fragile self-esteem — You can see your strengths, but that sense of worth is easily destabilized by criticism, self-doubt, or comparison to others.

Both can take a real toll on emotional well-being, and often connect to concerns like anxiety, depression, or difficulty coping with change.

Unless we actually take in the praise and recognition we receive – instead of deflecting it – our need for external validation will never be satisfied.

What We Work On Together
Our work focuses on developing a more stable, grounded sense of self-worth—one that doesn’t depend on external validation or a perfect track record.

For many people, self-esteem challenges have roots in early experiences: not receiving enough support or encouragement growing up, feeling “different” from others, or navigating rejection and comparison. Therapy offers a space to begin rebuilding that foundation in a way that’s intentional and lasting.

Together, we may explore:
• How social comparison affects your self-perception—and how to engage with it more thoughtfully
• Responding to self-doubt and imposter syndrome
• How you define success, competence, and what it means to be “enough”
• Patterns of self-criticism, and how to begin shifting them

An important part of this work is learning to actually take in positive feedback rather than deflect or dismiss it—and to develop an internal dialogue that feels genuinely supportive rather than harsh or undermining.

Over time, this process can help you move through the world with greater confidence, flexibility, and a clearer sense of who you are.

Self-esteem work can be challenging but greatly rewarding. If you’re ready for the journey, please contact me.
